In July of 1999 the CDC approved a loan
in the amount of $250,000 to Thornton Industries.
Thornton is primarily a processor of powder and liquid
materials for the consumer market. The company bottles, for example, powdered talc, contact cement and mouthwash, etc.
The project was the relocation of an existing processing facility that had been destroyed in a fire. The company
considered relocation of the facility to Florida. The CDC loan assisted in retaining the facility in Morris, IL.
The facility reopened in 1999 and processed more product than any previous year. The total project was $1,200,000 and created 40 new jobs. |
