In September of 1999 the CDC approved a
loan in the amount of $30,000 to Blimpies Submarine Sandwiches.
The project was the start up of a new sandwich
restaurant in Wenona, Illinois at the intersection of Interstate 39 and Illinois Route 17. The restaurant is benefiting
from the interstate location and processes about $50-100 in coupons from Blimpies marketing campaign. A Pizza Hut
has opened in the retail complex and another hotel is in the planning process.
The local area customer base provides
most of the sales during the winter months and the interstate traveler is the primary source of revenue during the warm
weather months. Wenona's Blimpie features a catering selection and the business is exceeding its sales projections.
The total project was $280,000 and created 12 new jobs. |
